Why are games still breaking up game play with stiff cut scenes? There is little excuse to take all control away from the gamer just to show a scripted sequence *in the game engine*. You would think that Half-Life's success will be a big enough hint. But no, AAA titles still take this ridiculous shortcut at the expense of immersion.
How about this food for thought: If the main character is involved, actually allow the player to partake in the festivities. Oh sweet, I'm master chief and I'm kicking all sorts of... no wait, now I'm just watching him do stuff (and from a different perspective!). Bleh. Not to pick on Halo, it's not exactly alone on this.
